On August 17, 2002, Petz opened its first store under the name Pet Center Marginal, and celebrated its 18th anniversary in 2020. One year after its inauguration, the Company became the first pet shop in the world offering 24-hour services.

The Adote Petz project was created, aimed at ensuring responsible tutors and safe homes to abandoned pets, in addition to promoting animal welfare and the donation culture. In the same year, the Tietê store gained a new aesthetic center and launched its e-Commerce website.

2008

Launching of the “Vale a Pena Ser Fiel” loyalty and exclusive savings program for registered customers.

Opening of the Brasília store, the first outside of São Paulo.

Entry of the Warburg Pincus investment fund, which maintained Sergio Zimerman as partner and CEO of the group, and brought new strategies to strengthen and expand the brand.

The Company’s brand was changed to Petz, by the Future Brand agency. The chain gained a new standardized layout in all its stores, invested in the gardening segment and opened the Morumbi store, the first with the new brand. Petz also opened its Holding company, with new corporate headquarters in Pari, a neighborhood located in the city of São Paulo.

Petz opened its Distribution Center in Embu das Artes, become one of the first retailers to integrate physical and on-line store inventory.

2017

2017

Petz launched a new on-line store, in addition to its own brand name products. Additionally, the Itaim store was opened with the Omnichannel Pickup Store concept, the Company signed a partnership with Editora Mol and also began operations in the south region of Brazil.

The Seres brand was launched at the Ricardo Jafet store, a veterinary services brand with investments in technology and units designed to create a positive experience for patients. The Company also launched the Petz app.

Petz reached its 100 store milestone with the opening of a new store in Caxias do Sul and launched its Pet-Commmerce, a tool that invests in artificial intelligence to identify a dog’s interest in selected products, which received the Effie Awards Brazil and Cannes Lions awards. The Company ended the year participating in the Pet Experience fair, the first pet fair designed for end consumers, and achieved a record number of pet adoptions, totaling 7,600 adoptions carried out through the Adote Petz project.

Petz lauched its Initial Public Offering (IPO) at B3. At the traditional bell ringing ceremony, which marks the IPO and the start of shares trading, Wolke, a border collie dog, was selected to participate in the ceremony for the first time in history. We restructured our veterinary clinics, turning them into Centro Veterinário Seres, and launched the Adote Petz website with a registration form for on-line adoption processes.
